Origin and Growth
Rotary Club Matriculation Higher Secondary School was started by Rotary Club of Mayuram in the academic year 1967-1968 as an English Medium Nursery School in order to enable the people of Mayiladuthurai to give their children a good standard of education at a nominal cost.
Rotary Club of Mayuram was officially inaugurated on 6th October 1966, with 28 members meet on all Thursdays at 7.30 p.m. The very next year the School project was inaugurated as their continuous project.
The School was upgraded as a Matriculation school in the year 1989. Since then, in the matriculation examinations the school has consistently achieved the passing rate of 90% and above; in some years it has achieved cent percent.
The school owns 36,000 sq ft of land at Thirumanjana Veethi, Koranadu, Mayiladuthurai. In order to cater to the need of the higher students strength, the Rotary Club constructed a new additional block during the year 1991 and thereafter additional constructions were taken up during the years 1995, 1997, 2001, 2004, 2005, 2012, 2014, and 2019. The total constructed building area is amounting to 23,000 sq ft with 3 storeys. The laboratory and classrooms are housed in 3 storeyed building.
The school got upgraded as Higher Secondary during the Academic year 2000-2001. Since then, in the +2 examinations the school has consistently achieved the passing rate of 90% and above; in some years it has achieved cent percent.
The children are being educated from Pre-KG to +2 levels. The institution is housed with around 1100 students with all infrastructures.
Educational Facilities
- Smart Classes
- In addition to well established classrooms, Smart Class rooms with audio and video equipment are available.
- Laboratory
- For the benefit of students above VII standard, they are provided with equipped Laboratory for the effective teaching of science.
- Computer Lab
- To inculcate the knowledge of computers with the budding generation of students, a well-established Computer Lab with 15 desktop computers is available.
- Library
- A Library with more than 4000 books is made available for pupils and staff. Pupils are expected to make use of the school library.
Sports Activities
The students of our institution take part in many athletic competitions and are winning several prizes in Table Tennis and Shuttle Cock. Our institution was the fore runner to start the Table Tennis Game in the Mayiladuthurai Educational and Revenue District.
Cocurricular Activities
Our aims in education are not only academic excellence but also formation of discipline, hard work and moral values in the young minds. Cocurricular activities and interact Club are meant to prepare the youth in leadership.

The motto of our school is "Service above Self".

Our faculty consists of a well experienced and dedicated team of trained graduates, postgraduates, and specialists. There are 46 teachers and 18 non-teaching staff working in the institution.

School Secretaries
From the inception, the school is being managed by the Rotary Club of Mayuram. Our Galaxy of School Secretaries need a special appreciation. The journey for them was a tough one at times; but as the saying goes "when the going gets tough, the tough get going" with their capabilities, they overcame all obstacles. Special Recognition
Rotary Club of Mayuram has been doing various philanthropic activities for education and community since its inception in the year 1966. It is worth noting that among the members who joined the club when it started, former leader Rtn. M. Sundara Mahalingam have continued to work for the association till date.
